Botanical Garden of the Ozarks
MESA was selected by Botanical Garden of the Ozarks to complete the design of the new Visitors Center. The salvaged hardwood timber frame skeletal structure was already constructed on the north edge of the project site but needed final design to complete the building shell. The building has three main purposes they include being the visitor center, garden offices, and rental facility. The building has a somewhat vernacular appearance emphasized with the stone and wood exterior. Interior finishes have been downplayed with the timber frame being emphasized. Where possible sustainable materials and finishes have been employed to provide an example of sustainable design opportunities and provide for a healthier building environment.
A large exterior patio adjacent to the indoor reception room expands the available space intended for activities and functions, while providing overlooks to the gardens to the south, making it a unique setting for day or evening activities. The site around the building and parking lot has been designed to provide working demonstration gardens and rainwater collection and treatment technologies. |
